Description

CENER puts at the service of the consortium its coating, structuring and characterisation infrastructure. This infrastructure consists of several techniques for the deposition of thin films, for the nano and micro-structuring of different surfaces, lasers for ablation and thermal processes and the characterisation set-ups for optical, surface and electrical properties. The infrastructure is devoted to the development of new materials and surfaces for energy applications. CENER makes use of this infrastructures mostly for research projects but also for commercial projects. Research areas usually supported by the infrastructure include quantifying the impact of structured materials in Si PV technology, deposition of advanced perovskite materials (with up-conversion and protection sheath), application of luminescent materials into photovoltaic (PV) technology, and integration of Si PV into architectural and lightweight components.

Services offered by the infrastructure:

This infrastructure allows depositing thin film materials and structuring surfaces, which can be of interest in many energy-related research topics, ranging from spectrally selective materials, used for solar technologies, development of new electrolyser materials for green hydrogen production, or characterisation of composites for several technologies.

Support offered under this proposal:

The user will find a mature and dynamic research community formed by young and senior researchers who will strongly stimulate the research and create new bonds, facilitating which will facilitate the collaboration between institutions and therefore, the faster development of the technology.

Extraordinary scientific aspects/possibilities of the infrastructure not available at other infrastructures:

This infrastructure combines deposition and structuring capabilities, together with the necessary equipment of their characterisation, which can be applied to many different renewable energy technologies. The support of senior researchers, involved in research and commercial projects, is also of key importance for an adequate guidance.

Testing Capabilities

The facility provides coating, structuring, and characterisation services for developing new materials and surfaces in energy applications, including thin film deposition, nano/micro-structuring, and characterisation of optical, surface, and electrical properties.

Technical Equipment

Coating, structuring, and characterisation infrastructure for thin films and surface materials, including deposition techniques, nano/micro-structuring, lasers for ablation, and characterisation set-ups. Services include material deposition and structuring for energy applications, such as advanced perovskite materials, luminescent materials for PV technology, and integration into lightweight components. The infrastructure supports a dynamic research community and provides expert guidance for various renewable energy technologies.
