Description
HITMOBIL is a distributed research infrastructure for technologies and systems for generation, storage and utilisation of clean energy. Module 1 Industrial Research comprises a few laboratories, namely L1. Batteries, L2. Photovoltaic modules and generators, L3. Hydrogen and Fuel Cells and L4. bioenergy, offering scaling-up of the already proven scientific ideas to lab scale prototypes (TRL 2/4). L5. HIT for Energy Storage and Electromobility, is equipped with a Complex Energy System comprising photovoltaic (PV) panels, wind generators, hydrogen cycles and batteries. It is focused on education and training activities.
L6. Integrated Energy Systems, is a field laboratory equipped with the most recent energy storage systems of different types, a PV park and the first in the Balkan region hydrogen filling station having its own hydrogen generator. L6 offers functionalities for investigation, analysis and prognosis of the most appropriate combinations of systems for energy production, storage and utilisation on demand, depending on the desired application, scale and climate locations.
Module 2 Experimental Development involves pre-commercial proceedings with Technology Readiness Levels (TRL) above 4, such as scaling of laboratory prototypes, optimisation of the regimes of industrial operation, testing and validation of pre-commercial systems for energy conversion and storage – batteries, supercapacitors, hydrogen and hybrid systems, inclusive in regime of operation, participation in demonstration and pilot projects, preparation of harmonised test procedures and protocols (when standards are missing), technical documentation and instructions for exploitation under real conditions.
Testing Capabilities
Testing Capabilities include high level industrial research and experimental development of novel cost-efficient materials, devices and systems for generation, storage and consumption of renewable energy at TRL up to 6 and pre-commercial demo projects.
