On 25 September 2026, RISEnergy contributed to discussions at a European Research Area (ERA) Action 16 workshop, bringing together Member State representatives and European stakeholders to explore opportunities for strengthening industrial research and innovation across Europe.
ERA Action 16, dedicated to accelerating research and innovation investments for Europe’s industrial transformation and competitiveness, provides an important framework for improving access to Research and Technology Infrastructures (RTIs) and fostering collaboration between research, industry and policymakers.
The European Energy Research Alliance (EERA), which sponsors ERA Action 16 and participates in ERA Forum meetings, actively contributes to these policy discussions, bringing the perspective of the European energy research community.
During the workshop, RISEnergy was highlighted as an example of how European initiatives can facilitate access to cutting-edge energy research infrastructures by offering a single-entry point to facilities and services across different energy sectors.
The discussions also provided an opportunity to exchange perspectives on the future of European energy research and innovation, including potential synergies with the Strategic Energy Technology (SET) Plan and its Implementation Working Groups, as well as opportunities to strengthen cooperation between European initiatives, national representatives and research organisations.
These exchanges built on RISEnergy’s recent webinar on good practices for industry access to Research and Technology Infrastructures, which highlighted the importance of improving infrastructure visibility, simplifying access and better addressing industry needs, particularly those of SMEs and start-ups.
RISEnergy’s engagement in these European policy discussions reinforces its commitment to making Europe’s energy research infrastructure landscape more accessible, interconnected and responsive to innovation needs, supporting the continent’s clean energy transition.
