Call for evidence: European Strategy on Research and Technology Infrastructures

The European Commission is calling for feedback to help develop and refine a European Strategy on Research and Technology Infrastructures.

Research and technology infrastructures provide key scientific and technological capacities essential for the excellence and the competitiveness of European innovation and industrial ecosystems. However, budget and related constraints increasingly hinder the creation, operation and improvement of these infrastructures and the effective access to their services.

The objective of the strategy is to ensure that researchers, innovators and industry in Europe have access to a comprehensive range of world-class facilities and tailor-made services in support of scientific and technological excellence and industrial competitiveness. This requires strengthening the European ecosystem of research infrastructures and technology infrastructures.

The upcoming strategy will increase the complementarity and service offer of the infrastructures and promote pooling and prioritisation of investments, leading to improved capacity and reduced investment risks and costs.

Given RISEnergy’s key role in providing free access to world-leading research infrastructure services covering 10 renewable energy target areas, this is a very important initiative for the project and the broader research infrastructure landscape across Europe.
